Balasore: In a proud moment for Odisha, three faculty members of the state-run Fakir Mohan University made it to the list of top 2 per cent of scientists in the world, 2024 by Stanford University.
These faculty members are Pankaj Kumar Parhi of the Chemistry department, Gouranga C Samanta of Mathematics and Manojit Bhattacharya of Zoology.
According to reports, Prof Parhi’s name has been featured in the list for the fifth time. For Prof Samanta, it is the fourth time. Prof Bhattacharya has made it to the list for the second consecutive time, reported The New Indian Express.
In the last five years, the trio has individually published many research articles. They have also filed numerous patents. They have also authored books on their respective subjects. Vice-chancellor of Fakir Mohan University congratulated them for this remarkable achievement.
The list is based on Scopus data. It has been curated by Elsevier in collaboration with Stanford University. The list identifies top scientists by analysing their citations, h-index and a comprehensive set of bibliometric indicators.
The list features researchers in 22 fields and 174 sub-fields.
