3 Families Dodge Disaster As Bulker Truck Crashes Into Houses In Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: Three families in Muniguda block of Odisha’s Rayagada district had a miraculous escape early Sunday morning when a heavily loaded bulker truck, carrying aluminium powder, overturned and crashed into their house near the Kanak Parameswari Temple.

According to sources, the incident occurred at around 4.30-5 am when the driver of the truck, en route from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to Jharsuguda in Odisha, lost control over the

vehicle, which then veered off the road, toppled sideways and slammed into the adjacent residential structures. The impact was so severe that walls of the affected houses collapsed, and asbestos roofing sheets shattered under the weight of the truck. Debris scattered across the site, but remarkably, all family members from the three homes managed to escape without serious injuries.

Sources further stated the residents of the house, who were possibly sleeping at the time of the accident, were able to react quickly and flee to safety.

On being informed, Muniguda police reached the spot, secured the area, assisted with initial clearance of debris. Though prima facie brake failure is being suspected as a plausible reason, further investigation is underway to ascertain whether vehicle speed, or driver’s fatigue contributed to the accident.
