Jajpur: A woman and her two daughters allegedly attempted suicide at Pada Sahi in Guhali Panchatyat under Binjharpur police limits of Jajpur district on Thursday.
The trio attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance. They were immediately rescued by neighbours and admitted to a local hospital in critical condition. Their condition is stated to be stable.
The victims have been identified as Ketaki Jena and her daughters Mamata and Gurubari.
“The woman might have decided to end her life and also insisted her daughters to do the same following the death of her son, Manut Jena, in Kerala some three days back. Manut was the only member of their family. He was working in a private company in Kerala and used to send money to his family,” a local resident said.
