Jajpur: District collector Chakravarthi Singh Rathore on Sunday suspended three government employees for irregularities in implementation of development schemes in Jari panchayat of Binjharpur block.
The suspended officials are Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) Prakash Jena, Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) Partha Thatoi and Junior Engineer Tushar Patra.
Alleging irregularities in the welfare schemes, the people of Jari panchayat led by panchayat samiti member Bhubananda Samal had staged a dharna in front of the office of the district collector. They had also submitted a memorandum to him demanding stringent action against the officials involved in the irregularities.
Acting on the complaint, the collector had directed the Project Director, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) to probe into the irregularities.
The PD DRDA during the investigation detected misuse of funds and submitted a report to the collector. On the basis of the report, the collector suspended the three officials.
