Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police have detained three persons in connection with the attack on inmates of a working women hostel at Nayapall in Odisha capital on Friday night.
Those detained are residents of Bhoi Sahi of Nayapalli, police sources said, adding that five other involved in the incident are absconding and efforts are on to nab them.
According to the complaint, miscreants threw stones at an inmate, Leela Swain (30), who works in a private organisation, in front of the hostel while she was leaving for the market on her scooter and then pushed and harassed her when she confronted them. She then ran inside the hostel fearing for her life. The goons later barged into the hostel and ransacked the premises. The youths allegedly created a ruckus there for over 40 minutes.
They also vandalised Swain’s scooter before fleeing the spot, it added.
