Bhubaneswar: Three persons were arrested and brown sugar valued at over Rs 2.2 lakh seized from their possession by the police in Bhubaneswar.
Acting on a specific information, a team of police personnel from Nayapalli Police Station carried out a raid at a site near Kalinga Stadium and apprehended the three accused persons.
During the operation, the police seized over 22 grams of contraband brown sugar valued at around Rs 2.2 lakh from the trio. Following interrogation, the three admitted their involvement in illegal drug trade, police said.
The arrested persons have been identified as Manua Maharana (22), Ramesh Mallick (42) and Nandu Jena (31). All the three belong to Bhadrak district. Further investigation is in progress.
