Bhubaneswar: In a major success against drug peddlers, the Special Crime Unit (SCU) of Commissionerate Police has unearthed a brown sugar racket operating in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar and arrested three persons.
Over 305 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 35 lakh, a country-made pistol and three rounds of live ammunition have been seized from the accused, police said.
A police team was constantly following the group members for the last 15 days and nabbed the accused persons who were selling small quantity of brown sugar in the open market in Pandra area to a drug addict.
Of the three accused persons, one is a B.Tech graduate & another is a Diploma holder. During house search, a country made pistol and three rounds of live ammunitions and one fired cartridge have been seized from the house of one of the accused.
