Bhubaneswar: Amid heavy rainfall in Bhubaneswar on Monday, three persons were injured after a portion of the boundary wall of AIIMS collapsed.
According to sources, two employees of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had taken shelter in a shop near the boundary wall as heavy rain lashed the city. With the downpour continuing for over an hour, the boundary wall of the institute collapsed.
As the debris of the wall fell on the shop, the two employees and the shop-keeper were injured. The three persons, who were injured in the mishap, were admitted to the hospital.
Later, the AIIMS, in a press release said the boundary wall collapsed in a no-man’s land and two employees of AIIMS suffered little injury. They have been provided first aid.
It may be noted that several places in the city were inundated and waterlogged throwing normal life out of gear as heavy rain pounded continuously. The city received 186 mm of rainfall by 5.30 pm pn the day, according to the regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar.
