3 Injured As Miscreants Hurl Bombs After Failed Robbery Bid In Odisha Village

Nayagarh: Three persons were injured after unidentified miscreants hurled bombs following a failed theft bid at a village in Odisha’s Nayagarh district in the early hours of Wednesday, triggering panic among locals.

The incident took place in Solpata village of Bhatasahi panchayat under the jurisdiction of Nayagarh police station in the wee hours. One of the suspects has been apprehended and detained by police.

Sources said four bike-borne unidentified men entered the village and tried to break into several houses to carry out dacoity. However, their loot attempt was foiled after some vigilant villagers got whiff of the robbery and immediately raised an alarm. Following this, the miscreants hurled crude bombs at them while trying to flee.

Some villagers were able to nab one of the miscreants after a brief chase, while three others managed to flee. The apprehended person was beaten up and later handed over to the police.

Three villagers sustained injuries in the explosion. They have been shifted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Nayagarh for treatment. Their health condition was stated to be stable.

A hunt has been launched to nab the other absconding miscreants, while the detained suspect is being interrogated, police said.
