Sundargarh: Three persons, including woman, suffered bullet injuries in a freak mishap after gun shots were fired accidentally from the weapon of a security guard of a private security agency near an ATM of a private bank at the weekly haat of Rajgangpur in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Thursday.
The victims have been identified as Muhammad Ilias (40) of Dilwar Ganj, Sita Lakra (30) of Jampali, Anuras Tanti (25) of Shanti Nagar. They had queued up outside the ICICI ATM to withdraw money.
According to sources, the guard was on escort duty and accompanying the private bank’s cash management vehicle for loading cash at the ATM. His gun went off accidentally when he was alighting from the van with the trunk loaded with cash.
The injured were immediately rushed to the government hospital in Rourkela. The SDPO and his team arrived at the spot and detained the security guard, Ranjit Kumar, for questioning.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
