Jammu: Three jawans were killed and three others injured in Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch on Thursday after terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles.
The Army vehicles were carrying jawans from near Bufliaz, where an operation against terrorists was underway, PTI reported quoting officials.
The operation was being conducted in Dera ki Gali, Thanamandi and Rajouri since Wednesday night.
The terrorists fired at the police vehicles — a truck and a Gypsy — in Savni area on the Rajouri-Thanamandi-Surankote road around 3.45 pm.
Windows and windscreens of some vehicles parked near the compound were smashed after an explosion on the intervening night of December 19 and 20 in Surankote area.
“Based on hard intelligence, a joint operation was launched last night. Contact was established today evening and an encounter is in progress. Further details are being ascertained,” a defence PRO told PTI.
Additional forces have been rushed to the spot.
