Ganjam/Khurda: At least three persons were killed in separate road accidents in Ganjam and Khurda districts on Wednesday.
An assistant sub-inspector of police was killed after being hit by a motorcycle at Hinjili in Ganjam district. The deceased, identified as Digambar Panda, fell off the motorcycle he was riding after it skidded off the road, which was wet due to incessant rain, and was hit by another speeding motorcycle coming from behind. The grievously injured Panda was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The other accident took place at Mangalajodi-Tangi road in Khurda, where a woman and her son were killed after their bicycle was hit by a stone-laden tractor. The deceased were identified as Kuntala Sahu (45) and her son Bibhuti Sahu (14), hailing from Mangalajodi village.
Police have arrested the driver of the tractor and seized the vehicle.
