Sambalpur: Three people were killed and five others critically injured after an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling dashed against a stationary truck in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Sunday.
The mishap took place near the toll plaza at Padhanpali in the district after the driver of the three-wheeler apparently lost control over the vehicle, sources said.
The auto-rickshaw was on its way from Sasan towards Rengali when it hit the truck.
While three persons died on the spot, the injured were rescued by local people and rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla for treatment. Their condition is stated to be critical.
On being informed, a team of police personnel rushed to the spot and seized the two vehicles. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a investigation.
