3 Killed As Truck Runs Over Marriage Procession In Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, three persons were killed and three others critically injured as a speeding truck ran over a marriage procession in the district on Wednesday.

According to sources, the incident took place in a village under Pandiripani pachayat in the evening while the guests were standing beside the National Highway for going in the marriage procession. A paddy-laden truck came from their behind and ran over them.

The father of the bridegroom and local sarpanch Shiba Khemudu was among the three persons killed on the spot. The three persons who who were injured in the mishap were rushed to the local hospital and later, shifted to the district headquarters hospital. Their condition was critical, hospital sources said.

Following the incident, the locals detained the truck driver. On being informed, police have rushed to the spot.
