Nayagarh: At least three persons were killed in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Daspalla area of Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Saturday.
According to preliminary reports, the accident took place near Subalaya square under Daspalla police station limits when the car carrying pilgrims from Chhattisgarh was proceeding to Puri.
The vehicle collided with the motorcycle moving from the opposition direction in the afternoon. Three persons on the bike died on the spot, triggering tension in the area as angry locals staged a protest at the site.
On being informed, a police team visited the spot and launched an investigation into the incident. While the bodies were recovered and sent for postmortem, the car driver was detained for questioning. Police and local officials spoke to the protesting locals and pacified them.
