Kendrapada: Three persons were killed in a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a truck in Odisha’s Kendrapada district late Thursday night.
As per reports, Asish Beuria of Jamudanda under Aali police limits in the district along with his friend was going in the auto-rickshaw to a petrol pump to get fuel from Kendrapada town in the night. As they reached Jamadhara Chhak under Sadar police limits, a truck coming from opposite direction collided with the auto-rickshaw.
After the collision, the three-wheeler was dragged for a distance. But the truck driver did not stop and fled. The local people rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the three persons inside the auto-rickshaw. But Asish, his friend and the auto-rickshaw driver had died by the time.
On being informed, the police reached the spot and retrieved the bodies. They registered a case and sent the bodies for post-mortem. A manhunt has been launched to trace the truck driver, police sources said.
