Raipur: Any fire in a congested locality is a hugely worrying incident. But when such a mishap takes place at a market complex, the danger is manifold as dozens of lives are at risk.
Chhattisgarh’s Korba experienced a harrowing experience on Monday when a massive fire broke out at a commercial and market complex in the Transport Nagar area.
Three people have died so far and about a dozen rescued, informed Korba Collector Sanjeev Kumar Jha.
Images and video from the spot surfaced online showing billowing smoke engulfing the complex amid the all-pervading flames.
As people inside the building panicked in the fear of being trapped, many tried to jump from first floor to escape the fire.
ANI posted a video showing rescue operation under way.
A branch of Indian Bank as well as a number of shops located in the commercial complex were burned down.
Firefighters left no stones unturned to bring the blaze under control after a few hours.
