Balangir/Nuapada: Three persons including two women were killed in separate road accidents in Odisha’s Balangir and Nuapada districts on Saturday.
In one incident, Alok Chhatria, a retired police official, and his wife Sabita Chhatria were coming home from a programme on a Scooty when a truck hit them from behind near Chandanbhati college under Balangir Sadar police station.
While Sabita died on the spot, Alok, who was seriously injured in the accident, was rushed by the locals to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital at Balangir. On being informed, police reached the mishap spot and seized the truck whose driver is absconding.
In the other accident, a woman and her paternal uncle (father’s elder brother) were going on a motorcycle when a truck hit them near Mendhatala village under Lakhan police limits in Nuapada. Both persons died on the spot while the truck sped away from the place.
Police have filed a case and started investigation to trace the truck.
