Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has arrested three members of an inter-state dacoit gang and and seized more than 1 kg of gold ornaments from their possession on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda said the three arrested persons included one who receiver who used to purchase the stolen jewellery from the robbers. The gang was involved in five robbery cases in Bhubaneswar and four in Puri and Bhadark, he added.
Following several loot cases in different parts of Bhubaneswar recently, the Commissionerate Police had formed a special squad to investigate and nab the looters.
During investigation, the squad came to know about involvement of the gang and after obtaining detailed information about them, they arrested the three persons. The arrested members of the gang have admitted about loot in all the cases during questioning by the police.
The police have also seized over 1.5 kg of silver ornaments and Rs 4 lakh cash from their possession.
