Cuttack: Three persons were arrested by police for setting a honey-trap for an engineer and seized Rs 25,000 from him.

The accused are Diku alias Subash Chandra Nayak, Rohan Kumar Nayak and Akram alias Alfaz Alli.

In his complaint at Lalbag police station on January 17, the engineer said Diku had befriended him a few months back and a few meetings later, the accused learnt about the engineer’s wealth.

Some more days later, Diku asked the engineer to lend him some money but he refused. Denied money, Diku hatched a plan to honey trap the engineer along with Rohan and Akram.

On January 6, Diku lured him to meet a woman and when the engineer reached the spot, the three accused forcibly took the complainant to a rented house where a woman was also present.

In the house, the three clicked pictures of the complainant and the woman and started blackmailing him. They snatched his ATM card and also collected the ATM PIN forcibly, the engineer stated in his complaint. The trio managed to withdraw Rs 25,000 with the ATM card.

On January 16, Diku again called the complainant and demanded Rs 1 lakh failing to pay which, he threatened to make the pictures viral. Not willing to fall prey, the engineer informed the police.

Acting on the complainant, police conducted a raid and arrested the accused on Tuesday. Probe is underway to find the woman’s involvement.
