Puri: Three minor boys reportedly drowned while taking bath in a river in Odisha’s Puri district on Tuesday.
According to sources, four minor boys of Balidia village under Astarang police station in the district had gone to take bath in Devi river near the village. While bathing, three of them were dragged into deep water by a strong current and started drowning.
As the fourth boy shouted for help, some villagers and his parents rushed to the spot. They rescued the three boys in unconscious condition from the river and took them to a government hospital at Charichhak. But the doctors in the hospital declared them brought dead.
The deceased were identified as Ayusman Behera (13), Ritesh Behera (14), and Rohan Behera (13), who were students of Class VIII, IX and VIII respectively.
On being informed, a team from Astarang police station went to the hospital and sent the bodies for post-mortem. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation.
