Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday granted a three-month interim conditional bail to the prime accused in Uliburu mining scam, Deepak Gupta.
He will be released on interim bail from October 1, 2020, to January 2, 2021.
He has been asked deposit Rs 1 crore in the lower court and two surety bonds of Rs 2 crore each against the bail. He has also been directed to deposit his passport in the lower court and not to influence the witnesses.
The HC also asked Gupta to provide the address of the place, where he would stay after being released on bail, phone number and email details to the Vigilance.
In June, the court had allowed him an interim bail of one month.
Earlier, this bail application was rejected five times in HC and twice in Supreme Court.
The prime accused in the Rs 1,800-crore mining scam, Gupta has been in jail since September 5, 2013.
State Vigilance officials arrested him on September 4, 2013, for his alleged involvement in the mining scam at Uliburu in Keonjhar. A chargesheet was filed against 29 persons, including the family members of Gupta.
