Jagatsinghpur: Three members of a family were critically injured after their thatched house caught fire after being hit by lightning at a village in Kujanga block of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Saturday.
The fragile thatched house was gutted in the lightning incident that took place at Barihadiha village in Kujanga block of the district in the early hours.
An elderly woman and her two sons sustained critical injuries in the fire triggered by the lightning, soruces said.
All the injured persons have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where their condition is said to be critical.
It may be noted here that several parts of Odisha encountered severe thunderstorms and lightning activities yesterday and early this morning. The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar also experienced Nor’wester rain. Several houses were stated to have been damaged in different areas.
