Koraput: Three persons died while another sustained critical injuries as the car in which they were travelling fell off Jodimadeli ghat road in Odisha’s Koraput district, late on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Nandalal Thakar, Gaurav Thakar and Naman Thakar. The injured, Rachana Thakar, is undergoing treatment at district headquarters hospital in Koraput. The victims belong to Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh, sources said.
The accident took place around midnight when the family was travelling to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh from Chhattisgarh for a vacation. Gaurav, who was reportedly on the wheels, lost control over the vehicle at a turning and it plunged into a 100-metre-deep gorge. The accident, suspected to have occurred either due to fog or sleeplessness of the driver, was detected this morning.
Pottangi police have recovered the bodies and initiated an investigation.
