Sonepur: Three members of an inter-state drug racket were arrested for allegedly smuggling ganja in Odisha’s Sonepur district.
Acting on a specific intelligence of the illegal contraband to be transported from Boudh
to Balangir district, Sonepur police set up check points on key routes and nabbed three members of the gang on Tuesday night.
Tarabha police intercepted three motorcycles at a check point and nabbed three persons on two bikes, while another person sped away. Cops seized 16 kgs of ganja in sacks, two motorcycles, three mobile phones and one country made gun with ammunition. While two of the accused are from Boudh district, another hails from Sonepur.
Sonepur SP Narayan Nayak told a local news channel that further investigation is going on to identify other associates and their links to drug smugglers in other states.
