Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Monday arrested three members of an inter-state arms smuggling syndicate from Jagatpur area near Odisha’s Cuttack city.
Four pistols, 12 live bullets were also seized from them.
Speaking to the media, Cuttack DCP Kanwar Vishal Singh said among those arrested, Babua from Cuttack has 10 cases pending against him. He identified the other two as Pintu and Mihir of Jagatsinghpur also with criminal antecedents. “Preliminary investigation revealed that they had procured the firearms from Munger,” he said, adding a police team will be sent to Bihar for further investigation.
The DCP informed that the gang members were planning to loot ATM cash van in adjoining districts of the city. “We will seek their remand for further interrogation,” he said.
Two more members of the gang have also been identified and efforts are on to nab them, he added.
