3 Persons Missing After Being Swept Away In Canal In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Three persons are missing after being swept away in Pattamundai canal near Belamalia temple in Jagatpur area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Wednesday night.

According to sources, one person was swept away in the canal during the Laxmi idol immersion procession. Three others jumped in to rescue him but were also swept away.

Locals could rescue only one of them, however. Those missing were identified as Trilochana Mohana, Nilu Sahoo of Chauliaganj and Badal Sahoo of Choudwar.

On being informed, Jagatpur police, ODRAF team and firefighters arrived at the spot and initiated the search operation.

Locals expressed resentment against the administration for not closing the gates of the canal.
