3 Poachers Nabbed With Arms In Odisha’s Kuldiha Sanctuary Using AI Camera



Balasore: In a major achievement, forest department officials arrested three poachers and seized five country-made guns in Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Odisha’s Balasore district.

Officials said that the arrest was made with the

help of AI-enabled cameras installed inside the sanctuary as part of the drive against wildlife crimes.

The cameras, which were installed as part of the tiger census, captured images of the poachers, leading to their identification and arrest.

The poachers, identified as residents of Betei village under Oupada block and Narsingsila village, were arrested after a joint operation by Soro forest officer Harihar Majhi and Kuldiha range officer.

The forest officials also recovered five country-made guns hidden in the forest. Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the arrested poachers were part of a wider network.
