Balangir: Three school teachers, who had allegedly furnished fake certificates to get appointment, in Odisha’s Balangir district are absconding.
According to sources, the District Education Officer (DEO) of Balangir had lodged complaint against 4 teachers with the police for submission of fake certificates. He had also directed the headmasters of the schools to issue show-cause notice to the teachers.
The police had arrested Mrinmayee Panda, who was working as a Hindi teacher at a high school in Puintala block of the district for the last 10 years.
The three other teachers who are absconding are Biranchi Prasad Nayak of Sureikela High School under Belpada block, Sanjibmani Mahanand of Ganapatrapalli High School under Saintala block and Alma Topo of Govt Girls’ High School at Bangamunda.
The sources said since the three teachers were issued show-cause notice before the police could approach them for questioning, they managed to abscond from their places of posting apprehending arrest.
It may be noted that following the detection of an organised fake certificate racket in the district 6 months back, the authorities are undertaking thorough scrutiny of the certificates submitted by teachers and others.
