Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday announced free bus service to Kolkata from Puri, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in view of disruption of normal train service due to the June 2 triple train cash at Bahanaga station in Odisha’s Balasore district.
According to a CMO release, the decision was taken since people are facing lot of difficulty to reach Kolkata. The entire cost will be met from Chief Minister’s Relief fund.
This arrangement will continue till restoration of normal train service on Balasore route, it added.
It may be mentioned here that daily around 50 buses ply to Kolkata from these three cities of Odisha.
Earlier in the day, the CM had announced assistance of Rs 5 lakh to next of the kin of the deceased from Odisha. Those who sustained serious injuries will get Rs 1 lakh as assistance.
The 3-way train accident, involving Coromandel Express, SMVP-Howrah Superfast Express and a goods train, left 288 dead and over 1,000 injured. While 793 of 1175 patients admitted to various hospitals across the state have been discharged, 382 passengers are still under treatment.
Meanwhile, 100 bodies were brought to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar this morning to make it easier of the bereaved families to claim them. A 24×7 Control Room has been also set up at BMC-ICOMC tower at Satya Nagar in Odisha capital to help relatives looking for the survivors.

A list of deceased and the injured undergoing treatment at various hospitals have been uploaded on three websites – srcodisha.nic.in, bmc.gov.in and osdma.org to facilitate identification.
