Cuttack: At least three labourers were critically injured after a portion of a crane fell on them during construction work at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack on Friday.
As per preliminary information, the crane was deployed for the ongoing construction for the expansion of the premier medical college and hospital. It was used to lift construction materials to the top of the ten-storey building being constructed.
The workers were working on the ground as the work was in progress when a part of the crane collapsed and fell on them. As a result, three workers sustain critical injuries.
The injured labourers were immediately admitted to the casualty ward of the hospital for treatment.
The injured workers have been identified as Mubarak Ansari of Bihar, Dinabandhu Behera and Bansidhar Mallick.
Soon after the mishap, construction work at the site has been stopped and the area was cordoned off to restrict movement of people.
