Berhampur: A three-year-old girl was allegedly branded with a hot iron at Kabisuryanagar in Ganjam district on Friday.
According to avaible information, the child was branded by her mother and aunt for not obeying them.
On being informed that the condition of the girl has become critical after branding, the Childline officials reached the spot and rescued her. She was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur with injuries on her back.
“The health condition of the child is stated to be stable. The doctors performed plastic surgery on her back. An inquiry will be conducted into the incident and action taken against those responsible for the sad plight of the child,” a member of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) informed.
Once the child is handed over to the CWC, arrangements will be made to keep her at Utkal Balashram to take proper care of the child”, the member added.
