Sonepur: Three youths were critically injured as a car hit their bike on a bridge in Odisha’s Sonepur district on Thursday night.
According to sources, the three youths, identified as Varun Samla, Ashok Rajhans and Satya Rajhans of Damamunda village under Manmunda police station of Boudh district had gone to Sonepur on the bike on some work in the morning.
While they were returning, a car going on high speed hit them from behind on the bridge over Tel river. On the impact of the accident, the three youths were thrown off the bike. While two of them fell into the water under the bridge, one was crushed under the bike.
On being informed by the locals, police along with Fire Brigade from Sonepur rushed to the spot. The police first sent the injured youth, Satya to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Sonepur.
Later, the Fire Service personnel rescued Varun and Ashok from Tel river and sent them to the DHH. Both youths sustained fractures on their legs and hands. The condition of Satya was stated to be critical.
The police have registered a case and started investigation to trace the car which sped away after hitting the bike.
