Bhubaneswar: A three-year-old baby was found in a critical condition near the body of a woman, who had her throat slit, near Kandarapatia village under Jambu Marine police limits in Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Saturday.
According to sources, the baby, who is suspected to have sustained head injuries after being dashed to the ground, was rushed to a local hospital in an ambulance by locals, who spotted them early this morning, and then shifted to Kendrapada. The doctors have reportedly referred the child, who is unable to speak, to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack.
After a preliminary investigation, police suspect that the woman was murdered and then the body dumped along the road. Her identity is yet to be ascertained.
Hand gloves, liquor bottles, and a ‘mangalsutra’ were found on the spot.
A dog squad and forensic team will soon reach the spot, they added.
