Puri: With preparation for the inauguration of the Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor project in Odisha’s Puri on January 17 gaining momentum, the distribution of invitation cards for the mega event began on Tuesday.
A total of 30 teams left the Shree Jagannath Temple in the morning carrying the invitation cards. While 13 teams will distribute the cards within Odisha, 17 teams will invite the guests outside the state, sources said.
The invitation cards will be given to dignitaries, religious heads of various temples and shrines, mutts and important religious institutions.
To begin with, one of the teams visited the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar with invitation card. The team later visited Naveen Niwas, the residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the state capital, to invite him for the grand event.
Earlier, the authorities of the temple administration had visited the 12th century shrine in Puri to invite Lord Jagannath, His siblings and other deities on the premises of the temple.
