3,000 Litres Of Alcohol Go Down The Drain! Know What Happened

Kabul: In an incident which has few parallels, 3,000 litres of liquor went down the drain.

A team of intelligence officials poured barrels of alcohol into a canal in Kabul, Afghanistan’s spy agency said on Sunday.

It’s part of a measure by the Taliban regime to crack down on sale of alcohol in the country, AFP reported.

The General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) in Afghanistan released video footage which showed its agents pouring alcohol stored in barrels into the canal. The huge quantity of liquor was seized during a raid in Kabul.

“Muslims have to seriously abstain from making and delivering alcohol,” an intelligence official said.

A statement from GDI said three dealers were arrested during the raid, but it wasn’t clear when it was carried out or when the liquor was washed away.

Taliban seized power of the war-torn country in mid-August last year as the last of US troops left Kabul.

Since then, the Taliban such raids, including those on drug addicts, has increased manifold.

That apart, the Ministry for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has issued a number of guidelines restricting women’s rights.
