3,008 Pitchers Of Holy Water Brought In ‘Kalas Yatra’ For Ram Navami Yajna In Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Thousands of woman devotees on Tuesday took out a ‘Kalas Yatra’ as part of 3-day Ram Navami celebration in Odisha’s Bhadrak town.

The women devotees fetched the holy water from river Salandi in 3,008 pitchers and went around the town in the Kalas Yatra that culminated at Gandhi Padia at Nua Bazaar. The procession that started from Gandhi Padia went to Salandi and returned with water filled pitchers through Banta Chhak, Apartibindha Chhak, Puruna Kacheri Bazaar and Town Hall Chhak.

The entire route wore a saffron look with flags, banners and festoons of the religious colour decorated all the way. The women devotees also wore saffron head bands written with “Jai Sri Ram”.

The water brought from Salandi was used by the priest for pious beginning of Sri Ram Navami Mahayajna at the Gandhi field. The pitchers were also placed in a decorated manner on the altar and worshipped. The pictures of Lord Ram, Lord Laxman and Devi Sita along with monkey God Hanuman were worshipped as per the rituals to begin the 3-day yajna.

Before the Kala Yatra, Angyamala (permission) was obtained from three major shrines – Maa Bhadrakali in Bhadrak, Baba Akhandalmani at Aradi and Maa Biraja in Jajpur to start the Mahayajna.

Badrak district administration made adequate security arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful celebration of Ram Navami in the communally sensitive town. As many as 250 police personenl have been deployed to maintain law and order.
