Cuttack: A major wildlife trafficking attempt has been foiled with the seizure of 302 Indian ten turtle from a car at a toll gate in Odisha’s Cuttack.
The Forest Department with help of revenue intelligence officials intercepted the vehicle near Manguli Toll Plaza and also apprehended three persons, who were allegedly transporting these tent turtles in an airbag. A schedule-I species of Wildlife Protection Act, these were being smuggled to Bengaluru from West Bengal via road, informed Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Susanta Nanda.
The car has also been seized and the accused being interrogated for more information on the illicit trade, he added.
