Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to construct 303 new hostels for the SC and ST students in the model schools of the state under the Anwesha scheme, ST and SC development minister Ramesh Majhi said at a press conference here on Monday.
Highlighting the achievements of the ST and SC development department in three years of the BJD government’s fourth term in power, Majhi said, “The state government has opened more than 6,000 hostels to provide quality education to around 5.5 lakh SC and ST students in the state. To ensure livelihood support of particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs), a special scheme titled “Odisha PVTG empowerment and livelihood improvement programme (OPELIP) with an overall outlay of Rs 795 crore with a target to benefit more than 32,000 PVTG households.”
