Bhubaneswar: DGP BK Sharma informed that 31 middlemen were arrested on Saturday from 10 different places of Odisha.
Interestingly, out of these, nine, the highest number were arrested from Regional Transport Offices in Jajpur. The tally in Bhubaneswar was three, arrested from hospitals.
This is in continuation of the DGP’s statewide special drive against middlemen operating in public places following Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s directive to Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) to keep hospitals out of bounds for middlemen.
The public places under scanner include hospitals, medical colleges, blood banks, dispensaries and Regional Transport Offices.
To drive home the seriousness of the action, he has asked the SPs and DCPs to register specific cases against middlemen and arrest them. This will help the police to establish their links with others. They have also been directed to submit a daily Situation Report (SITREP) basis regarding action taken in different districts.
In all, 136 middlemen have been arrested in four days.
