Balasore: Around 35 members of a family and their relatives are critical due to suspected food poisoning at a village in Odisha’s Balasore district.
The incident has been reported from Nuapur Sindhia village under Buanla Panchayat of Balasore Sadar block.
According to sources, the affected people were attending the last rites rituals of a relative, who died recently. Around 40 people attended the function and had food.
However, 35 of them later complained of vomiting, stomach ache and nausea after consuming the food. They were immediately shifted to Balasore hospital and are undergoing treatment.
It is suspected that the food served during the ceremony was contaminated and has caused the illness.
The condition of all the patients is stable and they are recovering, sources said.
