35 Vehicles Seized, As Many Booked, 8 Fined For Drunken Driving In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar police late on Wednesday seized 20 four-wheelers and 15 two-wheelers, booked 35 drunk drivers and fined eight others under the “Safe City Drive” campaign.

The campaign has been launched by Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate to crackdown drunken driving cases in the twin cities of Odisha.

At least 18 platoons of police officer under the guidance of 54 police officers checked on vehicles in 54 locations, including Gopabandhu Chhaka, Rajmahal Chhaka, Master’s Canteen Chhaka, Housing Board Chhaka, Sunderpada Chhaka, Ekamra Chhaka, Pokhariput, Palashpalli Chhaka, Rabi Takies Chhaka, Mausi Maa Chhaka, Lingipur Chhaka, Dhauli Chhaka, Delta Chhaka, Siripur Chhaka, Jagamara Chhaka, SUM Hopsital Chhaka, Nakakote Chhaka, Kalinga Nagar Chhaka, DN Regalia Chhaka, Nijar Chhaka, Sitaram Chhaka, Pittapali Chhaka, Madanpur Chhaka, Kalpana Chhaka, Sai Temple Chhaka, Kesura Mangraj Point, Jharpada Golei Chhaka, Ganganal Chhaka, Balakati Bazar, Ranga Bazar, Balianta Bazar Chhaka, Balipatna Chhaka, Hanspal Chhaka, Pahala Chhaka, VSS Nagar Chhaka, Nicco Park Chhaka , Rupali Chhaka, Nalko Chhaka, Maila Tanki Chhaka, CRP Chhaka, Beherasahi Chhaka, Damana Chhaka, Niladri Bihar Chhaka, Panda Park Chhaka, KIIT Chhaka, Pathargadia Chhaka, Raghunathpur Chhaka, Nandankanan Golei Chhaka, Kateni Chhaka and Chandaka Chhaka.

The city police took action against four persons and seized four vehicles from Badagada police station limits, four from Shahidnagar, three from Bharatpur police station limits, three from Chandrashekharpur, three from Khandagiri, three from Kharvela Nagar police station limits, three from Nandankanan, and two each from areas under Airfield, Airport, Laxmiasagar and Tamando police station limits.

Likewise, Balianta, Infovalley, Jatani and Pahala police seized one each from their respective areas.

According to Bhubaneswar City Police, legal action has already been taken against 158 drunk drivers since January and 168 two/four wheelers have been seized.

The Safe City Drive will continue, informed Commissionerate Police.
