35-Year-Old Odisha Woman’s Facebook Friend Drugs, Rapes Her In Patna

Bhubaneswar: A 35-year-old woman from Cuttack paid a heavy price for befriending a man from Bihar on social media. It ended up in her being allegedly drugged and raped at an unknown place in Patna. Though the shocking incident reportedly took place in June 2022, the victim lodged a complaint with Cantonment police recently via post. Police registered a case on September 16 under relevant sections of the IPC, including 376 (2)(n), which is imposed when an accused rapes a woman repeatedly.

According to the victim, she came in contact with the man from Muzaffarpur on Facebook a few years ago. He allegedly shot some of her photos during their video calls and started blackmailing her for money. He even shared some photos on her brother’s phone when she avoided his calls, the Times of India reported.

Her complaint stated that he threatened to circulate her nude pictures on social media. He forced her to travel to Patna to meet him in June 2022. Once there, he took her to an unknown place where he drugged and raped me for several days and even assaulted her with iron rods.

According to the woman, she somehow managed to escape from the room after a few days and reached a railway station from where she reached Cuttack. She sent her complaint to the Cantonment police via speed post.

“We took the case seriously and registered a case. However, we cannot proceed further as her whereabouts are not known. Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to contact her at the address mentioned in her complaint. We are still trying to locate her and know the details. We are also trying to contact the accused named in the FIR,” deputy commissioner of police (Cuttack) Pinak Mishra was quoted as saying by ToI.
