360 Litre Foreign Liquor Seized, One arrested In Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: A huge quantity of foreign liquor was seized and one person arrested by the police in Tikiri area of Odisha’s Rayagada district while it was being illegally transported in a van.

According to sources, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Y Mohan Babu, was arrested following a special operation by the police on Sunday night.

The vehicle, allegedly belonging to a local BJD leader, has also been seized. Over 360 litres of foreign liquor was being transported in the van illegally.

Following instruction of Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Tikiri police station, Debadatta Mallick, a police team was carrying out patrolling near Totaguda Square when the van was intercepted.

The driver of the vehicle failed to show any valid document about procurement and transportation of the liquor. He was unable to give any satisfactory reply regarding his destination.

The police took the vehicle to the police station and found beer cans kept in 30 cartons. There were 720 beer cans of 500 ml in the cartons, sources said adding that further investigation is in progress.
