Balasore: As many as 37 bonded labourers were rescued from Nilagiri area in Balasore district on Tuesday.
According to reports, the labourers were rescued from a brick kiln located at Gopalpur in a joint raid carried out by sub-collector, tehsildar and labour department officials. They were confined to the brick kiln and used to work under inhuman conditions for a couple of months, reports said.
Earlier on December 9, at least 28 bonded labourers, including five minor girls, were rescued from Dharmagarh in Kalahandi district.
The victims were rescued by police while being trafficked to Chhattishgarh in a private bus.
