He reiterated that the fatality and mortality rate of Omicron’s BF.7 sub-variant infection is very low even though it’s infection rate is very high.
“People need not be worried as the fatality and mortality of BF.7 infections is very low. What we have to do is to get our samples tested when we develop symptoms,” advised the Health Director.
He said the BF.7 sub-variant has remained active for the last two years. As infection is rising in China, the variant has worried many. He said people of Odisha and the country have already developed immunity system as they have already faced Covid infection in four waves.
Mohapatra said Covid positive rate has not risen for the last three months. A mock drill will be conducted in all districts on December 27, as per the guidelines of the Centre.
He too informed that the Union Government has issued guidelines for international tourists. “No direct international place is coming to Odisha. As per Central guidelines, people coming from foreign countries will go for Covid tests,” said he.
