Guwahati: An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale struck the north-central part of Assam on Sunday, reports stated.
A National Center for Seismology report stated that the quake was recorded at 7:47 am in Udalguri district at a depth of 15 km.
The earthquake epicentre is around 105 km north from Guwahati and 48 km west of Tezpur, near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, according to a New Indian Express report.
Residents in Darrang, Tamulpur, Sonitpur, Kamrup and Biswanath districts also felt the tremors. Kamrup Metropolitan, Morigaon and Nagaon also felt the jolt.
In some areas of western Arunachal Pradesh and eastern Bhutan, the tremors were witnessed, the reports claimed. However, there are no casualties reported so far.
