4 Arrested For Creating Ruckus At COVID Hospital After Patient’s Death

Bhawanipatna: The local police on Monday arrested four persons, one of whom has been sent to COVID hospital, for creating law and order situation in the health facility over the death of their kin.

According to reports, a man admitted to Kamathana COVID-19 hospital here died on April 23. His family and some villagers alleged medical negligence as well as absence of doctors behind the death.

As the incident took place near a COVID facility, police swung into action and arrested them. They are residents of Cheliamalar and Kusumadar villages.

Kalahandi SP Saravana Vivek M said three persons have been forwarded to court while another has tested positive for COVID and is under isolation.

The CDMO said the hospital is adequately staffed and doctors are on duty all the time.

The SP has requested people to follow COVID-19 guidelines set by the Odisha government failure to which, police will take strict action.
