4 Arrested For Smuggling Ganja In Odisha’s Sambalpur



Sambalpur: In a major crackdown on narcotics trade, police arrested for people and seized 25.4 kilograms of ganja, Rs 1 lakh in cash, and a car in Odisha’s Sambalpur.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted a vehicle and discovered the ganja

carefully packed inside the car, along with cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade which was being transported to Kolkata in West Bengal.

The vehicle was immediately seized, and 4 people traveling in it, who are residents of Sambalpur, were taken into custody. The 4 accused were arrested on the spot and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police officials stated that the cash recovered was likely intended for further transactions in the smuggling network. The arrested individuals are currently being interrogated to trace the supply chain and identify other members of the racket.
