Bhubaneswar: Four persons were arrested by the police in Bhubaneswar while they were planning to commit a major armed robbery on National Highway No. 16 late.
The accused, arrested by Nayapalli police, have been identified as Pintan Nayak (23), Santera alias Santosh Kumar Pradhan (26), Rakesh Mukhi (20), and Mantu Naik (25). They have several criminal cases pending against their names at various police stations.
A sword, a knife, a katari, a baton, four liquor bottles, a torch light were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.
Based on reliable inputs, a patrolling team of Nayapalli police station raided a desolate place adjacent to the boundary wall of the CRPF campus wherein the accused persons were planning to commit a major armed robbery. While police were able to capture four persons, another managed to flee the spot.
During interrogation, the accused persons have confessed to their crimes. Further investigation is in progress.
